Suzlon subsidiary gets massive orders

Wind Turbines manufacturer Suzlon's subsidiary Seforge (which is one of the largest casting and forging companies in Asia) has got orders worth Rs 200 crore for wind energy equipment. (120 Cr. for tower flanges and 80 Cr.  for wind turbine casings).
This is yet another example that illuminates that the fact that foreign investments in the Wind Energy sector in India are at an all - time high. Not more than few days ago, investment banking giant Goldman Sachs decided to invest USD 200 million (1000 Crore rupees) in Suzlon Wind Energy.

Danish Energy Agency : A Review

Denmark is the world leader in Renewable Energy. A recent report issued by the Danish Energy Agency (http://www.ens.dk/en-us) highlights some of the key points in Denmark's Energy Economy.

1. Energy Consumption fell by 4% from 2008 to 2009 (5.5% reductions in transport sector, 10.8% in the Agriculture and Industry sector and 3.5% in households)
2. Share of Renewable Energy in the total energy production rose from 18.8% to 19.7%.
3. Carbon Dioxide emissions fell by 3.6%.
4. Denmark is the only country in the EU that is self - sufficient in producing its own energy.
5. From 1990 to 2009, the total production of Renewable energy went up by 150%. (Solar went up by 480% and production of wind energy went up by an astounding 1000%). Also, the amount of electricity produced by Renewable means went up by 463%.
6. A total of 5107 wind turbines produce 3482 MW of Wind Energy.
7. From 1990 to 2009, Per Capita production of Carbon Dioxide has gone down by 24.7%. The share of Renewable Energy in the total energy produced has gone up by 1270%.

Why go Green?

Industrial and economic development in the last few decades has had a serious (and negative) impact on our environment. I may even go so far as to say that the last 200 years have been the most harsh on our earth. As GHG emissions rise, polar caps melt, and we find ourselves worrying about climate change and the (speculated) apocalypse in 2012, Green Energy presents itself as an economically viable and environment friendly option.

Solar and Wind are the two sources of energy that can be easily assimilated - thanks to their abundance. Things are definitely looking up as the markets for eco-friendly goods grow exponentially, and nations invest billions of dollars in R&D and manufacturing of Green Products.
